Sandra returns home after ten years to her mother and neurodivergent brother, she’s getting married. Her return massively disrupts the tight union and steady routine of the mother-son duo and Sandra thinks her brother, who needs constant support, should be in a residential care home and that what her mother calls care is actually co-dependency.

Sandra's shame surrounding her unconventional family provides taught ground for this moving piece which explores warring narratives and how chronic illness affects family dynamics.

Broached with sensitivity and humour, Marra takes us into the depths of a trio driven by an old wound, a misguided wish to be ‘normal’ and a failed attempt to gain independence.
