Silke Hassler

Born in 1969 in Austria Silke Hassler studied Literature in Vienna and London before embarking on her career as playwright and librettist. She wrote the libretti for Dirk D’Ase’s ‘Azrael’, Wolfram Wagner’s ‘Endlich Schluss’. Together with Peter Turrini she wrote the Operetta ‘Each To His Own’ which premiered in March 2007 at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt and was subsequently adapted for the screen, entitled ‘In Another Lifetime’. Her plays ‘Qualifikationsspiel’ and ‘Kleine Nachtmusik’ won several Austrian theatre awards and were translated and produced all over Europe. In 2007 she was ‘Author In Residence’ at the University of New Mexico. Her play ‘Lustgarantie’ premiered at the Neue Buehne Villach in March 2011.
Her latest play ‘Absolute Happiness’ will open in 2013 at the Josefstadt in Vienna.
