Born in Hamburg, Falk Richter is a freelance author, theatre and opera director and translator. Since his first theatre production of Kult (part 1) in 1994 he has been working as author and director at the Kampnagel theatre, the Schauspielhaus and the State Opera in Hamburg, the Toneelgroep Amsterdam, the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf, Seven Stages Atlanta (USA), the Frankfurt Opera, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Burgtheater in Vienna, the Schaubühne Berlin and the Schauspielhaus Zürich. His play God is a DJ has been translated into more than 15 languages and has been produced worldwide, in London, Berlin, Sydney, New York, Athens, Copenhagen und Zurich, amongst others.
In 2000 Richter was invited to the Berlin Theatertreffen with his play Nothing Hurts. In the same year, he wrote the war play >em>PEACE for the Schaubühne. From 2000 to 2003 he was resident director at the Schauspielhaus Zurich. In 2004 he realised the cycle of plays DAS SYSTEM at the Schaubühne which contained Unter Eis, Sieben Sekunden and Electronic City. In 2004/2005 he was guest lecturer for the directors’ course at Hamburg University. His collected works were published by Fischer Verlag in 2005 under the title Unter Eis. Falk Richter lives in Berlin and can be counted amongst the most successful German dramatists and theatre directors
