AMSTERDAM by Maya Arad Yasur is currently running at the Orange Tree Theatre until 12th October. Beautifully directed by Matthew Xia for ATC this is the first UK production for Maya Arad Yasur. And critics agree that hers is a voice seldom heard in the UK theatre.
“Amsterdam is timely and hauntingly reminds us that the past exists in the present. In failing to acknowledge our darkest history we risk repeating it.” LYN GARDNER, STAGE DOOR
“Fascinating multilayered play...a complex web of interlocking thoughts, reflections and memories.” - THE STAGE
“This is a timely piece, putting contemporary Europe in direct conversation with its past at a time when those demons are reawakening. And it contains particularly salutary messages for Britain as it considers pulling up the drawbridge to the continent. We neglect the past at our peril and Amsterdam brings its voices vividly into focus” WHATSONSTAGE
“An ambitious, innovative piece of theatre, replete with rich narratives and dynamic performances.” LONDONTHEATRE1
“Each element of design and movement works in deceptive harmony with a tireless, inventive and impressive cast. Everyone is honouring a text and subtext of the kind that British theatre sees all too rarely.” KIMPROVISE
