Fresh off Academy Award nominations for her first feature film, Room, Emma Donoghue has signed on to adapt her novel FrogMusic into a movie.
TORONTO - Oscar-nominated "Room" author Emma Donoghue is taking on the film world again.

The Ontario-based novelist, who wrote the book "Room" as well as its Oscar-nominated film, is set to write a screenplay for "Frog Music."

Monumental Pictures has optioned the rights to the 2014 story, which was her first novel after "Room."

The Dublin-born Donoghue is nominated for an Oscar for best adapted screenplay for "Room," which is also up for best picture.

The Irish-Canadian co-production also nabbed nominations for best director for Lenny Abrahamson and best actress for star Brie Larson.

"Frog Music" is based on the true story of French burlesque dancer Blanche Beunon and the murder of her cross-dressing female friend Jenny Bonnet in late 1800s San Francisco.

Oscar-nominated producers Alison Owen and Debra Hayward set up Monumental Pictures in 2014.
