Freyer, Thomas

Thomas Freyer (né 1981) was born in Gera, Thuringia. He was educated at the Paul-Maar-Seminar in Wolfenbüttel; then he had a dramaturgical internship at the Hans-Otto-Theatre in Potsdam. From 2000-2006 he studied playwriting in Berlin at the Art Academy. After graduation his first play “Amoklauf mein Kinderspiel” was invited for a scenic reading at the prestigious Theatertreffen in Berlin. Freyer was awarded the Dramatiker-Preis des Kulturkreises der Deutschen Wirtschaft 2006 and the Förderpreis des Schiller-Gedächtnis-Preises 2007. The radio version of the play won the prestigious Prix Europa.
