Mortazavi, Azar

Mortazavi was born in 1984 in Wittlich, Germany. In 2008 she participated in the Festival of Young European Playwrights in Utrecht. In 2009 she developed a stage version of Dostoyevsky's Dream of a Fool together with Robert Wagner. Her debut play Death Message won the Else-Lasker Schueler Playwrighting award in 2010. She was invited to the Karlsruherer Dramatiker Festival in 2011 with her short play Heaven and Earth. In 2012 she received the Exil-Dramatikerpreis of the Wiener Wortstaetten and her second play I Wish For travelled to the Autorentheatertage in Berlin. She is a member of the artist's collective Litte Black Fish and is currently working on a novel about her second home, Iran.
