The Girl lives alone with her father in a large empty house. When she meets a silver-tongued man online, she decides to run away from home to seek her fortune. But how far she is willing to go to receive the gifts that the man has promised her? A dark modern fairy tale for young adults, BCNU tells the story of a teenage girl who is looking for intimacy and love in a digital age in which everything has a price. The play explores hazy boundaries, grooming, and transactional sex without moralizing or victim-blaming, and asks difficult questions like: It is okay to let someone buy you a drink when it makes you feel like you owe them something in return? When does a gift become payment?
