There is no coincidence. Globalisation has created worldwide interdependencies.

If Siwa, a young African, can be persuaded to try a new sustainable way of cotton wool plantation, then he helps two young Chinese to start their first company. The slowdown in international soya bean trade has an immediate impact on Romanian pig farming. And Katrin’s exhibitionist exploits on the WWW not only result in problems with her partner Tom, but also bring about a surprising international showdown.  All the while, the title giving ‘Thing’ – a cotton ball – travels around the world witnessing the weird going-ons.

In a world where everything is connected and potentially explainable the characters crave for the inexplicable, the magical moment of great love and even the feeling of home – and they get hopelessly caught up in the global network of causal relationships.

An intelligent and critical comedy about Globalisation.
